Become a Toronto Zoo Volunteer

    Join our team of over 250 Volunteers educating and inspiring visitors on the Zoo site. Outgoing and dynamic, our Volunteers do not handle plants and animals directly. Instead, they promote wildlife conservation and help create an enriching experience for Zoo visitors.

    Year Round Volunteer Guides

    • enhance our visitors' experiences
    • lead guided tours, inspire visitors at touch tables, present community outreach programs, and assist at special events.
    • are lifelong learners who enjoy the outdoors and have an interest in and respect for wildlife
    • become Zoo members
    • are adults (this program is not suitable for high school students)

    Year Round Volunteer Guides complete a comprehensive training course and make a commitment of two years, giving one day a week and at least 75 hours per year. 

    To submit an application for the 2009/2010 training course, please complete the application form below and return it to the Zoo by Friday September 24, 2010. You will be contacted if you qualify for an interview after this date.

     Summer Information Volunteers

    • Inspire visitors' curiosity at interpretive stations throughout the Zoo site, provide information to guests, and assist at special exhibits and events
    • become Zoo members
    • are adults (this program is not suitable for high school students)

    Summer Information Volunteers complete a three-day training session in the spring and commit to one afternoon or evening shift a week during the summer months, Volunteering at least 36 hours over the course of the summer. High school students are not eligible for this Volunteer opportunity.

    To submit an application for the summer of 2010, please complete the application form below and return it to the Zoo by Friday March 26, 2010. You will be contacted if you qualify for an interview after this date.

    Zoo Ambassador Student Volunteers

    • enhance visitors' experiences at special events throughout the year and at our Zoo Kids camp during the summer months.
    • are high school or college/university students

    Zoo Ambassadors complete a one day training coures in the winter. They are expected to make a 2 year commitment, volunteering a minimum of 20 hours per year.

    To submit an application for 2011, please complete the application form below and return it to the Zoo  no later than Friday January 7, 2011. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview after this date.
