High School Courses in the Summer at the Toronto Zoo

Teens - are you looking for an summer experience that’s exciting and unforgettable as well as worthwhile for your education and future career? Do you have a passion for animals, learning, and the environment?

The Toronto Zoo will be offering Ontario curriculum full-credit courses in the summer for upper level high school students. These unique experiences will incorporate behind the scenes tours, Zoo staff talks, and close encounters, combined with interactive classroom discussions, compelling lessons, and amazing opportunities for you to create dynamic and memorable projects and presentations that are both fun and educational.

Grade 11

  • Biology Grade 11, University Preparation (SBI3U)
  • Environmental Science Grade 11 University/College Prep (SVN3M)
  • Introduction to Evolutionary Biology and Anthropology, Grade 11 Open (IDC3O: Interdisciplinary Study)

    Grade 12
  • Science, Grade 12 University/College Preparation (SNC4M)
  • Environmental Leadership, Grade 12, University Preparation (IDC4U: Interdisciplinary Study)*
  • Conservation Biology Grade 12, University Preparation (IDC4U: Interdisciplinary Study)*

    *What is Interdisciplinary Study?
    Under the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Secondary School Curriculum, students may take one interdisciplinary credit in each grade. These courses can count towards university or college applications, the grade 11 course has an ‘Open’ designation, and the grade 12 courses have a ‘University Preparation’ designation. These courses each involve different strands from various inputting courses to give the student, a more holistic view of the topic at hand. When completed, students will receive the credit for the interdisciplinary course, not for the inputting courses.
